Membership to the Garden Club of Cape May (GCCM) is open to anyone interested in working with other GCCM members toward the preservation and beautification of gardens and natural resources throughout our community of Cape May. GCCM is a nonprofit organization registered in the State of New Jersey. Currently, we have over 100 members.
Joining the GCCM is a wonderful way to make new friends, learn about gardening and preservation, and beautifying your neighborhood and community gardens. The 2024-2025 annual membership fee is $35. Our season starts in September 2024 and concludes after the annual luncheon in June 2025.
Monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month from September to May. Members typically meet at Price Hall at Cold Spring Church at 780 Seashore Road in Cape May, NJ. The social portion of our meetings starts at 9:30 am with assorted baked goods, coffee, and tea. The business portion of our meetings begins at 10:00 am. Occasionally meetings are held at special, nearby venues and points of interest.

What to expect at a GCCM meeting?
- Speakers are invited to Club meetings to present various subjects of interest to gardeners regarding topics such as native gardening, ecological preservation, and conservation.
- A few GCCM meetings focus on workshops or hands-on projects that include floral arrangements, container gardens, wreaths or terrariums.
- Other GCCM meetings may involve field trips to community centers of interest such as the new Science Center Gardens in Cape May Point.
- Meetings are also an important time to plan for events. In order to fund the scholarships we award, fundraising events are necessary and have included Plant Sales and Flower Shows.
- We also plan fun events for members, such as a luncheon and Quizzo game at the Kick-off meeting in September, Holiday Luncheons and a Longwood Gardens field trip in December, as well as visits to public and private gardens in the tri-state area, and finally the annual luncheon in June.
- The GCCM participates in several community events with MAC, including garden tours at the Colonial House and the annual Halloween Scarecrow competition at the Emlen Physick Estate. We have also partnered with local citizens and businesses in the beautification of the six raised garden beds at West Cape May Elementary, and with the City of Cape May to support and maintain several community gardens.
- Finally, the GCCM also has an educational outreach program with the West Cape May Elementary School, to educate students about horticulture and the environment.
